The wasp is yellow to dark brown or sometimes black. They have little to no hair on the body unlike the honey bee.

Wasp preys on other insects, but adult wasp does not take any nutrients from their prey. They lay their eggs in the prey the prey usually stays alive until the parasite larva’s are mature and emerge from the host. Adult Wasp only takes nutrition through pollination. The wasp can deliver multiple stings in a single attack.

Honey Bee

Honey Bees are yellow intertwined with black in color. They have dense hairs on their pronotum with a thinner hair on its abdomen. They have a clear wing that covers most of their body. The larva is white in color and is legless and grubs.

Honey Bees are a social insect. They like to nest in any void e.g. wall void, under a roof tile, inside a hollow tree etc. They hoard pollen from flower to produce honey at the hive which is usually made of wax. The honey bee is usually a docile bee but will become aggressive if its hive is disturbed. After a single sting delivered by a honey bee, it will die.

Africanized Bee

The larva is white in color and is legless and grubs. They are very similar to honey bees in appearance Africanized bee are just much more aggressive.

Africanized Bees are hybrids between a honey bee and an African subspecies. They are much more aggressive and do not hoard as much as a honey bee. They do not overwinter so well so they are more often found in warmer states. They are very active in Nevada.
